Benjamin Ehst, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Benjamin Ehst is a board-certified dermatologist with a doctorate in immunology and microbiology. His current research and patient care areas of expertise include psoriasis, eczema and other inflammatory skin disease.
Dr. Ehst earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and his M.D. and Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in a combined Medical Scientist Training Program. He completed residency training in Dermatology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and completed a period of work at the Hopkins’ Bloomberg School of Public Health studying the immune response to malaria. These experiences solidified his career choice to pursue both medical practice and clinical research.
Dr. Ehst spent his early career at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) as an associate professor in the Department of Dermatology. He honed his interest in psoriasis as a member of the Center of Excellence in Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis, and eventually took over as co-director of this multidisciplinary center. Additionally, Dr. Ehst organized a specialty clinic caring for skin-related issues in HIV-infected individuals, and he maintains a special interest in psoriasis and infectious diseases to this day.
Alongside patient care and teaching medical students and residents, Dr. Ehst began his work in clinical research while at OHSU as lead investigator in many studies on treatments for skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, granuloma annulare, actinic keratosis and melanoma.
In 2017, Dr. Ehst brought his knowledge and excitement for clinical research to Oregon Medical Research Center, purchasing the practice and becoming the President and Principal Investigator in 2023. Dr. Ehst enjoys the challenge and reward of helping trial participants not only improve their own lives but those of many others. OMRC has successfully helped bring many cutting-edge advances to patients, including the well-known medicines Taltz®, Cosentyx®, Skyrizi®, Ilumya®, Tremfya®, Sotyktu®, Rinvoq®, Olumiant®, Cibinqo®. Dr. Ehst publishes and presents widely on related research and medications.
